Creating stories that spark a lifelong love of reading

The Storyteller
Kelly-Anne Norman writes books for children that speak to the heart.
Whether it’s a whimsical picture book for little listeners or a middle grade novel that dives deep into the challenges of growing up, her stories always carry meaning—and a message. She believes every child deserves to feel seen, heard and valued, and her writing reflects a strong commitment to wellbeing, empathy and emotional courage.
A school librarian by day and a storyteller by heart, Kelly-Anne is passionate about helping children discover their “home run” book—the one that speaks to their soul and starts a lifelong love of reading.
Her writing journey was shaped by the voices of iconic Australian authors like Jackie French and Melina Marchetta. She still remembers the moment she finished Looking for Alibrandi and knew she wanted to write books that could make readers feel that deeply, too.
Kelly-Anne is the author of two published picture books for children aged 3–6 and writes middle-grade fiction for readers aged 9–13, including her debut novel Understanding Molly. She has three additional picture books in the publishing pipeline and is currently immersed in writing her first junior chapter book mystery and a brand-new picture book.
Her stories often explore themes of identity, resilience and the quiet power of kindness. She always writes with a coffee in hand and meditation music in her ears—and if you ask her about her current favourite novel of all time, she’ll happily tell you (but be warned—it changes weekly!).
